Our Narrators
QNS has around 50 volunteer narrators who narrate books and other information in their homes. About 10 of these narrators record their audio onto computer. We use Australia Post to send packages to narrators including the book to be read, instructions and cassettes, CDs or USB memory sticks. Most narrators complete the narration of a book in a few months. QNS supports volunteers by conducting narration and equipment workshops throughout the year. QNS holds workshops for narrators as the need arises which cover endemic issues. We have a lot of correspondence with narrators through phone, email and mail. Narrators live all over Australia but most are in Queensland. Some narrators prefer reading shorter materials such as magazines and government information. We have narrators with backgrounds in broadcasting, drama, teaching and expertise in particular fields relating to subject matter. Often we narrate for students so knowledge in a particular subject is helpful. We also have office volunteers who make copies, burn CDs, stick labels on and package orders.
