About the Author

Ian Callinan is a former High Court Judge and recipient of the nation’s highest civil honour (Companion of the Order of Australia) ‘for service to the judiciary and the practice of law, to the arts and to the community’. He has served on the boards of numerous publicly funded organisations – including the ABC and the Australian Defence Force Academy – and, most recently, was the commissioner of the inquiry into the outbreak of equine influenze in Australia. Ian is one of the very few Australian authors writing knowledgeable and sophisticated modern fiction about Australian people of affairs and means. Author of The Coroner’s Conscience, The Lawyer and the Libertine, The Missing Masterpiece, Appointment at Amalfi, The Russian Master and After the Monsoon. Each of his books finishes with a momentous and thought-provoking impact. He has a considerable published oeuvre including plays produced in Brisbane – Brazilian Blue, The Cellophane Ceiling and The Acquisition. Besides being a successful novelist and playwright, he has written reviews, short stories and occasional pieces. This is to say nothing of his vast output of legal writing.

Ian Callinan lives in Brisbane with his wife and two cattle dogs.

The new Summer 2012 catalogue contains 35 book tittles, 15 of which are “Open Access” tittles.

 

 

From the Bookjacket is a 15 minute radio show which is presented by QNS and aired monthly on 4RPH radio station. The show informs listeners of the most recent additions to the QNS audio book catalogue by giving a detailed synopsis, as well as information about the author and reviews on each book. Radio 4RPH is a radio station for the print handicapped. It can be listened to at 1296AM and a program guide is available at www.4rph.org.au

From the Bookjacket is aired on Mondays at 9:50 am and 6:20 pm and is presented by QNS staffmember Nick Warren.

 

The QNS office will be closed from Wednesday 21st December 2011 to Tuesday 3rd January 2012.

The management committee and staff would like to acknowledge our volunteers for their generous donation of time and effort, which has been an invaluable contribution to the organisation this year.
