*Funding to continue. Our funding would continue for a further two years beyond the implementation of the NDIS.
*Creating Future Libraries Conference. QNS attended the Creating Future Libraries Conference to promote the organisations service to teacher librarians.

*Partnering with the State Library of Queenslands Indigenous Languages Unit. QNS staff travelled to Mackay with the State Library of Queensland’s Indigenous Languages Project team, to run a basics-recording workshop with Yuwibara descendants.
*NDIS Asks the Impossible of Those it Serves. The mess that is the National Disability Insurance Scheme can be traced directly back to its many design faults.
*QNS celebrated its 50th year at the AGM. The morning was well attended by our volunteer base located in Brisbane, representatives from blindness organisations and special guests.
*Special Thanks. QNS would like to pay tribute to two very special office volunteers who are always there in a crisis: Derek and Judy Christy.
Happy National Volunteer Week to all Queensland Narrating Service volunteers who spend hours transcribing the printed word to audio format to ensure that people in our community living with a print disability have access to kinds of information and recreational reading books.
*Vale Blair Meldrum. Blair commenced with QNS as a volunteer narrator in February 1998 and was awarded Life Membership in 2008.

*Happy Chinese Lunar New Year!
*AGM 2016. It was wonderful to have Paul Price, a volunteer with Radio 4RPH as our guest speaker.
*Hilda Reid – Awarded the Order of Australia Medal. Hilda commenced as a volunteer narrator with Queensland Narrating Service (QNS) in 1976.
*Disability Services Minister Coralee O’ Rourke visited QNS. We discussed about the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the Information Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) and sat in on a training session with one of the students from ACPA.
*Reading Between the Lines – SBS Insight. Statistcs reveal that 44% of Australians have low levels of literacy.
*Naming your Files/Chapters. By using this as a guide for naming your files, it will keep them all in order.
