David and Jane at the staff send off party

Good Bye to David and Jane

After nine years working with QNS, David Fermer left in September 2010. He oversaw the successful shift from analogue to digital recording and was instrumental in shifting QNS products from cassette to CD and then to mp3 and DAISY. Many QNS narrators had David visit them in their homes to set up their equipment. David showed great patience when teaching people how to narrate onto computer and as a result we have well over half our narrator base producing digital masters.

David was a valuable team member and his insight into the managing of QNS as part of a flat management structure will be greatly missed. The staff and volunteers will miss him. David has left QNS to take up a position at Tim Bennetton Architects in West End.

Jane Prior left QNS just before the Christmas break. Jane’s husband was transferred to Melbourne. Jane was with QNS for three years. Many narrators will remember Jane fondly because she was the main contact for narrating work. Jane was a great asset to QNS, she gave valuable feedback to narrators and was a calm influence in the office. Her gentle voice will be missed in 2011.

In December the staff, office volunteers and some members of the management committee went out to lunch at El Torito in West End to say good bye to David and Jane.
